University at Buffalo medical school puts ‘antiracism’ at center of curriculum

The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences earned a high grade for diversity by reconstructing its curriculum and policies to incorporate “anti-racist” principles.

The medical school of the CUNY flagship university announced last year that it was “overhauling” its curricula “to incorporate anti-racism,” The Washington Examiner reported March 29. The school stated the change was prompted by a student petition.

The school implemented a “holistic admissions policy” to ensure diversity, lobbied for DEI at all government levels, and planned to incorporate “equity initiatives” in its curriculum, according to The Examiner.
