In the wake of Sunday’s mass shooting at an Austin, Texas bar, Rep Jasmine Crockett claimed that the immigrant community "commits less crime" in the US "than anyone else," that most mass shooters are white, male, and "homegrown," and claimed that it's easier to get a gun in the state than it is to vote. The suspect in Sunday’s shooting, who is dead, was Ndiaga Diagne, a Senegal-born US citizen.

"I don't know how it is that we got here, that what one person does somehow is then impugned on an entire community. The facts are the facts. The facts are that the immigrant community actually commits less crime in this country than anyone else," Crockett said.
