A Georgia Democratic lawmaker who recently announced he is supporting President Trump in November lashed out at Democrats for “using and abusing” the black community and taking its vote for granted for “far too long.”
“I’ve seen more Democrats attack me for my decision to endorse @realDonaldTrump than ask me why,” Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones tweeted Tuesday. “They’ve used and abused folks in my community for far too long, taking our votes for granted. Black Americans are waking up. An uprising is near.”
Jones made national headlines in mid-April when he announced that Trump’s record on issues relating to the black community, military veterans, and farmers has motivated him to ditch his party and vote Republican in November.
“It’s very simple to me. President Trump’s handling of the economy, his support for historically black colleges, and his criminal justice initiatives drew me to endorse his campaign,” Jones said.
